BLOCKED FURNACE FILTERS
BLOCKED FURNACE FILTERS- IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE
A blocked furnace filter causes many components to weaken and fail, but the timeframe for them to fail cannot be easily determined.
A blocked furnace filter will cause the fan blower motor to overheat, the inducer motor to overheat, the pressure and safety switches to weaken, the electronic control board to suffer damage, the high limit switch to weaken, the hot surface igniters and flame sensor rods to become weaker and fail.
Unfortunately, that is only the start of the problems, as a blocked furnace filter will expose the heat exchanger to higher than normal temperatures and in time will crack the heat exchanger causing carbon monoxide to be present throughout the house.
It is important to replace your furnace filter every month. Many websites and furnace manufacturer’s Home Owner Manuals will provide you this information.
The importance of having your furnace serviced annually is a wise investment as it can reduce these problems.
We recommend to change filters every month to reduce repair cost.
